A/C Components explained
As confusing
as auto A/C systems may be to some, it's nice to know that every A/C system
uses pretty much the same components. That's true no matter if the A/C system
is on a Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, GM, Ford, Toyota, Mazda or any other type
of vehicle. Every system starts with a compressor and clutch assembly. That's
used to pump the refrigerant. Of course there are always two heat exchangers;
the A/C condenser and the evaporator. The evaporator absorbs heat from the
air entering the vehicle while the A/C condenser gets rid of that heat. Expansion
valves (TXV's) or orifice tubes are used to regulate or control the flow
or refrigerant through the system. Then of course, all the components are
connected with hose or line assemblies. Review the informative articles below
for more details on the different components of the A/C system.
