| Recharging
& refrigerant (freon) for the auto A/C |
Q:
How can I tell if my auto A/C system is overcharged?
A: Just like an A/C system
that is low on refrigerant (or undercharged), there is no fast and sure way
to determine if your A/C system is overcharged. Some of the symptoms are
that pressure gauge readings will be high (both the high and the low side),
and of course, the cooling performance will be poor. But just like the
undercharge condition, pressure gauge readings can not provide you a definite
answer. The only way to know if the system is overcharged is to recover
any refrigerant, vacuum the system and recharge the system with the full
factory specified amount of refrigerant. More information is available about
understanding the pressure gauge readings of
your auto A/C system.
NOTE: Removing, venting
or adding refrigerant to an A/C system may not be legal in some jurisdictions.
Any refrigerant should be recovered into a refillable container manufactured
for the purpose of storing refrigerants.
